Indiana County Bar Association Scholarship

1. Eligibility. Any person who is accepted into or enrolled in an accredited law school of the American Bar Association with (i) a history of residency in Indiana County and / or (ii) a demonstrable commitment to practicing law in Indiana County.

2. Criteria/factors for consideration.  1). Financial need
                                                                       2). Academic merit
                                                                       3). Demonstrated character
                                                                       4). Other factors deemed relevant to Committee

3. Application requirements.               1). College transcripts
                                                                      2). Acceptance letter or written confirmation of current enrollment in accredited law school
                                                                      3). Letter of interest from applicant
                                                                      4). One letter of recommendation
                                                                      5). Telephone or video interview of applicant by member(s) of Committee

Amount of scholarship.  Amount awarded on an annual basis, the scholarship amount shall be $2,500 per year.

By May 31st, any interested applicant must submit the above-required documentation along with a letter specifically addressing the above-referenced eligibility and criteria/factors to Logan S. Scholarship will be awarded no later than August 1st.

Pro Bono Protection from Abuse

The ICBA administers a Pro Bono Protection from Abuse Program where volunteer attorneys provide representation to victims under the Protection from Abuse Act and the Protection of Victims of Sexual Violence or Intimidation Act. The attorney’s role is limited to the representation of victims at the initial hearings, usually scheduled every Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Indiana County Courthouse. Please note that the ICBA does not schedule these hearings, please contact Court Administration at 724-465-3955 for further information.

Summit Legal (formerly Laurel Legal) assists Indiana County to provide free civil legal representation to qualified low-income clients.
